First Snow with White Horse and Puffin
The transition from Autumn to Winter inspired this surrealist painting. I realized that I needed to put snow in the mountains and make the grass look yellow and brown like winter grass as it appears in the Southwestern deserts during wintertime. In this drawing on black paper, an older white horse resignedly walks towards the mountains with an Atlantic Seabird completely unaccustomed to snow on the horse’s back. One hopes the Puffin will realize that its free ride will soon be over and that it will fly back to Nova Scotia on a prevailing wind. My passion as an artist is to bring joy and wonder into people’s lives.
