Black Horse with Greater Auk
This mixed media piece was inspired by a recent trip to Northern Arizona. After an unusually heavy Spring rain the gass to grew greener and taller than usual and the wildflowers bloomed with abandon along the roadside. In this blending of pastel, charcoal, colored pencil, and metallic pens on black paper, an imaginary ecosystem is created where Atlantic Seabirds and wild horses coexist in the Southwestern desert. Horses have inspired me as an artist for my entire long life, and I am very interested in juxtaposing images that might not ordinarily appear together in hopes of bringing joy and wonder into the viewers' lives.
